Dr. Jonathan Keith, MD, FACS is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon specializing in gender-affirming top surgery. He is a co-founder of GAMMA (Gender Affirming Medical and Microsurgical Associates), where he leads a team dedicated to providing safe, affirming, and expert surgical care for transgender and nonbinary individuals. Dr. Keith was the first surgeon in New Jersey to offer the full range of gender-affirming procedures. With locations in both New Jersey and New York City, Dr. Keith and the GAMMA team are proud to serve patients throughout the region with comprehensive, compassionate care.
Dr. Keith performs all types of Top Surgery. The patient's preferences and anatomy determine the best approach. Anatomical factors to consider include skin elasticity, size of the nipple and areola, and chest size and shape. Patients with minimal excess skin and smaller chests are good candidates for the Keyhole approach, while those with a more excess skin and chest size benefit from the Peri-Areolar or Double Incision techniques.
In addition to his extensive experience performing Top Surgery, Dr. Keith is part of a small group of surgeons in the United States offering Sensory Nerve Preservation, a refined technique that helps preserve nipple sensation and improve long-term surgical outcomes. Dr. Keith is affiliated with St. Barnabus Medical Center in Livingston and University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
Dr. Keith follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. You will need to provide one referral from a qualified mental health professional, unless otherwise specified by insurance.
Insurance Accepted: Dr. Keith is in-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and can accept out-of-area BlueCard members. He also accepts credit/debit cards. Medicaid and Medicare are no longer accepted.
