Dr. Marano's high level of surgical skill is the result of both exceptional medical and artistic training. He is a classically-trained pianist who earned his bachelor’s degree in Music from Brown University. He pursued medical training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School where he graduated at the top of his class. He subsequently completed an intensive six-year plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the prestigious Columbia / Cornell University program in New York City. Next, Dr. Marano pursued specialization in Gender Surgery, becoming the first-ever Harvard University Complex Gender and Microsurgery Fellow.

Surgery Requirements
Dr. Marano is a member of the World Professional Association for
Transgender Health (WPATH) and follows WPATH guidelines for
surgery:
- You will need to provide one referral from a qualified mental health provider recommending Top Surgery for you. Please note that if you are using insurance, you may be required to provide two referrals to get approved for coverage.
Insurance Accepted: In-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and can accept out-of-area BlueCard members and some NJ Medicaid plans. (Credit and debit cards are also accepted.)
Insurance Not Accepted: NY Medicaid, Medicare.
