Gender-Affirming Top Surgery in Texas

Dr. Dany Hanna, DO is a Gender Surgeon who works exclusively with transgender and non-binary patients in Dallas, Texas. In 2021, he established the Hanna Gender Center to provide excellence in surgical care for this historically under-served community. Dr. Hanna is one of few surgeons in United States who has completed a yearlong fellowship in Gender Surgery, with a special focus on Top Surgery and other masculinizing procedures.

Dr. Hanna offers three methods of Top Surgery. The best method to choose for you is a conversation that you and Dr. Hanna will share at your consultation. He'll make a recommendation based on your surgery goals and preferences, as well as chest size and skin elasticity.

1. Double Incision: The ideal Top Surgery procedure for those with a medium to large chest.
2. Buttonhole: A great choice for those who have a medium to large chest and prioritize nipple and areola sensation and pigmentation.
3. Peri-Areolar: For those with small chests, or medium chests with good skin elasticity.

Dr. Hanna can also perform Body Masculinization Surgery (BMS) at the same time as Top Surgery. BMS is a solution for masculinizing body shape when hormone therapy, diet and exercise fall short. Achieving the classic V-shape masculine figure can be challenging for trans men. Typically, when men carry extra weight, it tends to be in the upper body, not in the hips, buttocks and thighs—areas that can accentuate feminine-looking curves. Using Liposuction, Dr. Hanna can masculinize these areas to achieve a more masculine body shape.

Surgery Requirements
Dr. Hanna is a member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) and follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. You will need to provide a referral from a qualified mental health professional. (If you're using insurance, your insurance company may require more than one letter.) Patients must be 18+ years of age.

Testosterone hormone replacement is not required for Top Surgery.

Dr. Hanna believes that overall patient health is a better indicator of surgical readiness than BMI.

Financing & Insurance
Dr. Hanna accepts cash, credit/debit cards, cashier's check, CareCredit, insurance, Medicaid plans that cover gender-affirming surgery (which excludes Texas Medicaid) and Tricare military healthcare insurance.

Booking a Consultation
Phone, virtual and in-person consultations in Dallas are available for a fee of $100. (If insurance is being used, the fee is the specialist copay.) The wait time for a consultation is one month. Dr. Hanna speaks English and Arabic.
