FTM Top Surgery in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania became a hot spot for Top Surgery long before New York, New Jersey or Washington D.C. Curiously, New York was slow to attract Top Surgery surgeons and as a result, many who were seeking Top Surgery in the Northeast traveled to Pennsylvania for surgery. Dr. Sherman Leis, a gender surgeon in Philadelphia, performed his first gender-affirming surgery in 1984 but it wasn't until 2004 that he decided to specialize in the field. Since then, he has trained many surgeons in gender-affirming procedures, including Dr. Kathy Rumer and Dr. Christine McGinn. Today, Pennsylvania is still one of the most popular places in the country to go for Top Surgery.
Medicaid: Several surgeons in PA accept Medicaid, including Dr. Kathy Rumer.
Medicare: If you need a surgeon in Pennsylvania who takes Medicare, contact Dr. Keli Kolegraff at the Geisinger Medical Center. Temple University is also actively developing a gender surgery program and accepts Medicare.
